mobileme sucks

I have something to say: MobileMe, the replacement of .mac, is a terrible, terrible, terrible program. Technical things aside, aren't companies who take your money supposed to be reachable? I mean, aren't there supposed to be some humans at the other end of the exchange?

It really scares me that I am having payment troubles over the internet and there is no person who can help me. I don't want to chat. I don't want to look over Troubleshooting Guidelines. I want to talk to a real, live human about why my credit card isn't being accepted. Seriously, if MobileMe weren't affiliated with Mac, I would think they were trying to scam me.

If any of you have websites, I would really like to know what program you use. I bought my domain through Network Solutions, and though I don't know how to write in real html code, I'm willing to learn. If anyone has any website suggestions, I would appreciate it.

i had a website way back when...and i did all the html coding myself (taught myself how in high school...because i was bored, apparently) www.utopianchaos.com and i was planning on letting it expire in feb. when it's set to do so.

when i did code myself (i should get back into it, if only part-time, it's very time consuming!) i used free programs that i could find.

if you go to versiontracker.com and type in "html editor" or "html editing program" or something equivalent, it should give you a list of FREE (make sure it says free and not free trial, hate to fall in love with a program only to find out that two weeks from now it will disappear unless you pay $50 or something!) programs that let you edit the html in one tab and let you look at the final result in another tab. dreamweaver is good if you feel like spending a lot of money on it. it's like the professional version of these free ones.

also, there are html guide websites all over the place that teach you the basics. that's what i did, but by no means was it very simple. i had to figure a lot of stuff out by trial and error. (not trying to discourage you, just letting you know it's not going to be a walk in the park!)

anyway, the programs that allow you to switch between the "tabs" to see the actual code and then also the final product are WAY easier to use than the ones that only show you the html.

ALSO (sorry, this is long, but if someone would have told me all of this when i was coding, it would have saved me a lot of time and energy!) there are some programs that allow you to see the html, the final product, AND drag and drop things around in a WYSIWYG(what you see is what you get) editor, but they are rare. these are the easiest to use, but i haven't found one that is free yet.

finally, if you go to my website, www.utopianchaos.com and from the home page (not the index.htm splash page...once you click the picture that brings you to the actual webpage...) you can go to the top of your browser menu bar, click on "view" and then "page source", it will give you all the html i coded for the page to look how it does, if it helps to practice with something like that, you can do it for most websites, and copy/paste that into your html editing program and play around with it a bit, you can learn a lot of the functionality that way, and have a better understanding of html shtuff. :)

(also, please ignore what's ON my website, as it hasn't been updated in over a year and a half, and is an entirely inaccurate representation of my personality. haha!)

I taught myself too, just using basic text editors and uploading to free servers like Geocities, all of this back in high school. I learned through some tutorials, but also a lot of copying-pasting from the page sources of other websites. There are some great html tutorials online, and I'm sure there are lots of free programs around on versiontracker or Macupdate. I could also teach you what I know if you want.

When I had a domain, I registered through NetZero which was the cheapest hosting I could find. You should shop around though so you find a good balance of quality and price.

Love you :)
